Stevia: Natural Sweetener.
Stevia (Stevia rebaudiana) is a green leaf in the same family as the sunflower, also called sweet leaf. It grows in South America and has been used by tribes in Paraguay and Brazil for centuries. It is 30 times sweeter than sugar but doesn't contain any calories.
Stevia is very low on the glycemic index (it's actually zero!) and therefore a great choice for diabetics. One study has shown that it may even promote insulin production and therefore help reverse diabetes.
Due to laws being very strange things, it is sold not for human consumption but has been used safely in Japan and other counties for many years.
This is not an extract, just the whole leaf dried and ground up.
