Yacon syrup is a low glycemic healthy sweetener which can be used in cakes and chocolate. It has an almost toffee like flavour.
Yacon syrup is make from the root of the yacon plant which is ecologically produced in the Andes mountains of Peru. It is processed at low temperatures but is not strictly raw. We feel that it is probably healthier than agave syrup but it is not quite as sweet.
Yacon works as a pre-biotic - it contains fructo-oligosaccharides (FOS) which encourage the growth of healthy colon bacteria which promotes and maintains a healthy digestive system.
Low glycemic
Yacon is very low glycemic which means that it is suitable for diabetics. It is also low in caolries.
