Lucuma is a Peruvian fruit, this has been dried and powdered. It makes a great natural sweetener, I like to use it when making raw chocolate, (and I also like to eat it as it is with a spoon!). It can be used to sweeten raw cakes and puddings and maybe even raw ice-cream - lucuma is the most popular ice-cream flavour in Peru!
The Latin name is Pouteria lucuma or Lucuma obovata.
Lucuma is very nutritious with high levels of carotene and vitamin B3.
