Spirulina is a blue-green algae which is highly nutritious. It contains between 55% and 75% protein, including all the essential amino acids.
Benefits of Spirulina
Spirulina contains essential fatty acids including gamma-linolenic acid (GLA), alpha-linolenic acid (ALA) and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA).
Spirulina is a great source of minerals including calcium, iron, magnesium, manganese and Selenium.
It is also a good source of vitamins including the B vitamins and vitamin C and K.
Usage
Our certified organic spirulina powder can be added to smoothies and used as and ingredient in many dishes. I like to mash a banana and half an avocado with a couple of teaspoons of spirulina.
Some say that spirulina can affect the uptake of vitamin B12, so I recommend that you only eat spirulina every other day, and not at the same time as your source of B12.
This spirulina is organically grown in China, certified by the Soil Association (UK5).
