Raw cacao beans with the skin removed and broken into nibs (small pieces), to make them easer to use. You can either eat them as they are or add to recipes. Ground up they can be used in cakes, chocolate or puddings, or leave them whole for that raw chocolate chip effect.
A trail mix can be made by mixing cacao nibs with currants, goji berries, chopped dates, nuts, seeds and anything else you fancy.
Cacao is the Mayan 'Food of the Gods'. It is rich in minerals, antioxidants and natural feel-good brain chemicals.
