I think chia seeds have been the most requested item recently, so I'm pleased to announce that we finally have them in stock!
These chia seeds (Salvia hispanica) are grown by a co-operative in Mexico, without the use of chemical pesticides or fertilisers.
When soaked, chia seeds form a gel in a similar way to flax seeds. They can be made into milk or sprouted like alfalfa seeds.
Chia seeds are very high in omega 3 essential fatty acids, plus a good source of antioxidants and protein (16% protein, including all 9 essential amino acids). They are also a very good source of calcium, phosphorus and manganese, plus a source of other minerals including zinc.
Know as an energy food and for keeping hunger away, they make a great food to travel with.
We also have 1kg bags of chia seeds.
